Instagram makes affiliate marketing accessible to everyone
All Instagram users will be able to share links in Stories, eliminating the need for 10k followers for actionable content.
Instagram is the leading social media platform for influencer campaigns, helping increase brand recognition and drive sales by leveraging the engaged audiences of the platform’s creators.
Currently, it’s a challenge for affiliates to promote brands through trackable links on Instagram. Although larger accounts with over 10,000 followers have more in-app tools and features, smaller influencers struggle to monetize content on the platform – restricted to a link in bio to direct followers to purchase recommendations.
But this is all set to change following this week’s announcement.
Now, all Instagram users will be able to add links to their Stories using the link sticker feature. With this, products, links, brands or anything else the content creator wants to share can be easily linked for their audience to click on and, ultimately, to make a purchase.
Why is this important for affiliate marketers?
The rollout of link stickers means Instagram users, regardless of their follower count, can now include affiliate links directly in their Stories alongside the content they’re promoting, versus potentially being restricted to a ‘link in bio’ option – opening up more avenues for creators and brands alike, as they’ll no longer be limited by benefits afforded to macro-influencers. The resulting effect is more partnerships, sales, revenue and commissions.
For creators on ShareASale, to start promoting merchants in your Instagram Stories with the sticker, all you need is an affiliate link for the page or product. Once you have added content to your Story, simply select the tool from the top navigation bar and paste in the ShareASale affiliate link. You can then add it to your Story.
Outside of the link sticker functionality, there are a few other ways to include affiliate links in your content:
Link in bio: This is a great, prominent place to add an external ShareASale deeplink that is evergreen and permanent.
Save as a highlight: This allows users to click on your links beyond the traditional 24-hour Instagram Story lifetime.
IGTV: Incorporate ShareASale links within the video description of an IGTV and add it to an Instagram Story (you can click to access your content library).
Discounts: Using ShareASale’s exclusive coupon codes, creators can use individualized voucher and coupon codes to encourage conversions. Merchants on ShareASale can create these for their affiliate partners within their account by going to Creatives > Deals and Coupons. These are assigned to specific affiliates and allow them to earn commissions for driving sales without needing a link.

Calling All Food & Beverage Bloggers!
Dear Food Bloggers – I’ve saved the best for last!
Okay, maybe I shouldn’t declare one group of bloggers ‘the best’ over the rest. After all, every single blogger does have a unique story to tell and I love reading them all!
But personally, I can definitely get stuck on food & beverage blog for hours. Every picture, recipe and kitchen setting makes food content so mouth-watering. The sections I go to almost immediately are the slow-cooker, breakfast and of course, the dessert posts. I want so badly to be a good baker!
I am obsessed with the way food bloggers are able to get the perfect image of their dish EVERY TIME. I don’t think I can ever make a plate of spaghetti and meatballs look just as appetizing as you all can. And don’t even get me started on all that adorable dinnerware.
Food & beverage bloggers can do it all – they can whip up an incredibly tasty meal in no time and share it effortlessly with their amazing audience. But, can they monetize this delicious content with affiliate links?
For this last ‘Calling All Bloggers’ series, I’m going to go over the 6 key food groups – err, 6 key tips – that food bloggers can use to see success with Affiliate Marketing!
The Breads: Content (6-11 servings)
At the bottom of the food group is the core – the group that needs the most servings. The bread and butter (maybe not so much butter). This is your content. Content is, and always will be, king. Be sure to write about what you love first. Maybe it’s authentic family recipes that no one else has, or creative meals you’ve come up with on your own. These are the types of posts that no one can compete with. A huge part of your content is the visual aspect. Be sure to take consistently beautiful images from the beginning to the final, plated dish. This will help to capture your readers’ attention and keep them coming back to your blog for more!
The Veggies: Merchant Programs (3-5 servings)
The group that needs the second most attention is the vegetables, or in this case – the Merchants. Be sure to join the right Affiliate programs. There’s no need to join any and every food Merchant out there. Choose the ones with the products and ingredients that your audience needs, so they can become a wonderful chef just like you. Here are a few food Merchants you could join on ShareASale:
Prepared Pantry
Lifetime Brands
Sun Basket
FreshDirect
Snake River Farms
California Wine Club
BakeDeco
The Fruits: Social Media (2-4 servings)
It’s important to put some emphasis on your social media, not only for Affiliate Marketing, but in order to grow your blog. Be sure to share your most popular posts on your social channels, and include some Affiliate links every once in a while. Click on the image below to see how to integrate Affiliate links into social media by using our custom link generator.
The Meats: Reports (2-3 servings)
The raw data is super important if you want to earn recurring commissions. This means tracking your clicks, sales, etc. to see what’s performing best. Then, you can take action accordingly with those Merchants and products your audience loves. Familiarize yourself with the reports inside ShareASale, but also remember to check out your Google Analytics and other platforms that provide statistics.
The Milk and Cheeses: Tools (2-3 servings)
Focus on network tools. ShareASale has a handful of tools beneficial to bloggers, including the Product Discovery Bookmarklet, Afftrack parameters, and the Make-A-Page.
The product discovery tool allows you to quickly grab an Affiliate link to your favorite product. It’s a HUGE timesaver. Sign-up for the tool here.
The Afftrack parameter allows you to track specific links to see how well they perform. For all ‘serving spoon’ related links, you can add afftrack=servingspoon to the end of your Affiliate link to see exactly how much traction that specific link gets! If it’s popular, keep promoting it!
•With the Make-A-Page tool, you can create a ‘Shop’ page of all your favorite kitchenware and ingredients.
All Things Pasta from ABestKitchen.com!
The Fats and Sweets: Treats (In this case, do NOT use sparingly)
Give your readers a treat by linking to what you use in your own kitchen! Collecting email addresses and sending out newsletters is a great way to connect with your audience on all things kitchen. Reach out to a program manager and ask for an exclusive deal for your readers. Or work with your favorite brand to setup a giveaway. There are so many ways to reward your readers, while being rewarded a little bit yourself. Who doesn’t like dessert?!
In real life, all these food groups work together to form a healthy lifestyle. In blog life, these modified groups above do the same in order to make your Affiliate Marketing efforts thrive. Sprinkle these ingredients into your blog and make some extra dough!
Must-Have-Merchants: Photography
Are you an aspiring photographer? Well, you have come to the right place. These ShareASale Merchants are picture perfect. They have everything from top of the line camera gear, portable studio equipment, photo editing software, and even printing services for your masterpieces. Join these programs now and help out your fellow photography buffs.
Calling all Health & Fitness Bloggers!
To those bloggers that like to lift, run, yoga, crossfit, play sports or just workout in general – this one is for you!
That’s what truly amazes me about health and fitness content – there is SO much to cover. These bloggers usually have a very specific niche in the world of exercising, which makes their readers some of the most loyal followers around.
It’s no secret that most people need the inspiration and motivation to get started on a solid workout plan. This is where health and fitness bloggers come in! They’ve pushed through the same aches and pains of exercising, and can relate to people worldwide with their own, personal stories. They motivate, encourage and inspire others, like them, to get active and stay active.
In doing a quick search for top health and fitness bloggers, I come across such amazing content. Titles that truly want me to click on them. I’m intrigued by their information, and am constantly looking for the next best workout for me.
Many posts I read are from bloggers that do not monetize their content. They could be linking me to the product they used during their cardio workout, or directing me to the cute exercise top they wore in a video (because who doesn’t love a good exercise outfit?!). Health and fitness bloggers are doing an amazing service to us by spilling their secrets, but they’re missing out on potential earnings. I think they should be rewarded for their hard work and dedication to not only their blog, but their dedication to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Throughout this post, I’m going to go over 4 key items that health and fitness bloggers can follow to start earning commissions from the relevant products they promote.
First, join relevant Merchant programs:
Finding relevant partnerships is crucial! I have a list of Merchants, spread out across the health and fitness realm to help get you started. Check out their website, their Affiliate program and my two cents to see if they would be a good fit for you!
Calling All Fashion & Beauty Bloggers!
Have you been noticing our ‘Calling All (insert category) Bloggers’ posts and wondering when your niche is coming? I’m covering all the bases for this series, so check out what we’ve done already (travel, home & garden, crafts & DIY) and be on the lookout for food & beverage and sports & fitness in the next coming weeks.
Today, I want to talk fashion & beauty! Like the rest of the categories, these bloggers are a super talented and creative bunch. I love following fashion & beauty bloggers to find the hottest new trends, especially before I embark on a shopping trip. I need as much help as I can get with my wardrobe.
My favorite channels to follow these types of bloggers on are Instagram and YouTube. They make it easy for me to find their styles while I’m either in-store or online shopping (of course), and the beauty tutorials are so fun to follow.
Fashion & beauty bloggers have many different creative avenues to take when using Affiliate links. I’ve seen this group use Affiliate links so authentically already. There’s nothing more personal than using a make-up brush in a video tutorial, then linking to where the audience can buy that same exact brush.
ShareASale has hundreds of brands in the clothing, accessories, and beauty space. I’m going to go over how fashion & beauty bloggers can use these awesome ShareASale Merchants in content and on social channels.
Calling all Home & Garden Bloggers
I (along with plenty of others) enjoy a good home renovation or home décor project blog post. One of my favorite activities is watching shows on HGTV, waiting for that day when I can tackle a bunch of home projects myself.
I have a lot of respect for home and garden bloggers. They have a keen eye for creativity and know exactly what furniture and décor to buy to make their spaces sparkle. They can also transfer their amazing pictures into words, teaching us how to make our own houses more glamorous.
Home and garden bloggers have a definite advantage when it comes to monetizing their content through Affiliate links. Almost all of the more popular home décor Merchants have Affiliate programs. Therefore, it’s easy to find the product they used in their own home and link to it for their readers to copy the design!
These bloggers are so great at inspiring their audience to take action. If you’re a home and garden blogger, it’s time to turn your voice, creativity, and your blog into a profit.
Tip of the Day: Bloggers, Capture your Ideas for Later
Blog inspiration can strike at any time. Something as simple as a product ad, a conversation, architecture or even a trip to the grocery store could be the spark that gets your synapses firing enough to generate a new post. But sometimes, by the time you get home or settled enough to sit down and write, your thoughts have escaped you.
The challenge is in making sure you record your ideas immediately. You never know what might be the next great viral post! Inspired by our own network of Merchants as well as tools that we use on a daily basis, here are some solutions to help you record your ideas “in the moment”.
For the most part, there seem to be two different tactics to quickly recording ideas. Some prefer the pen & paper method while others turn to tools or apps on their phone. Find out what will work best for you!
Pen & Paper — Guided Products
There is just something about physically writing down your ideas! Many find that they are more likely to remember something by writing it. ReWrite notebooks are perfect because they are sold for a cheap, bulk prices and are lightweight to carry around. They are recycled, eco-friendly, and come in a variety of paper types. I recommend starting with three and keep one in your bedroom, one in your vehicle, and one somewhere else in the house – ready when your best ideas hit!
BestSelf Co.
A fantastic ShareASale Merchant for productivity, BestSelf Co., has the products you need to capture your best ideas, and has the perfect planning products to aid in your blogging organization.
From notebooks, to wall calendars, to even their “breathe” band to remind you not to get stressed out, BestSelf Co. is the company to keep on hand to seize all your thoughts!
Digital Solutions
There are many brands out there who specialize in capturing your thoughts and ideas and making sure you have them saved for any kind of future reference. The best thing about using your phone is that your ideas will always be with you and many of these apps can integrate with your computer – how convenient is that!
Evernote
Evernote is a cross-platform app that allows users to create a “note” which can be a piece of formatted text, a full webpage or webpage excerpt, a photograph, a voice memo, or a handwritten “ink” note.
It is robust enough that you can add files to the note, or even create notebooks online. It’s a great program simply because you could have an idea strike anytime, and with its compatibility with computers and cell phones, you won’t ever forget your thoughts.
Nutcache.com
Rethink project management with Nutcache. This tool is best used for team collaboration. It is cloud-based and help to not only match ideas together, but also team employees up, organize, track, and deliver more effectively. If you are looking for a tool to not only capture ideas, but also to track the project’s entire process, then this is the solution for you!
Microsoft OneNote
OneNote is used for free-form information gathering and multi-user collaboration. It gathers users’ notes (handwritten or typed), drawings, screen clippings, and audio commentaries. Notes can be shared with other OneNote users over the Internet or a network.
Users can enter typed text via keyboard, create tables, and insert pictures. Also, users do not need to explicitly save their work – OneNote saves data automatically as the user works.*
